How to Register a Domain Name
If you are setting up your own Web server, you will have to register directly with the
InterNIC. If you are putting a Web site onto the server of your Internet service provider
(ISP), that organization will generally handle the registration for you, typically for an additional

Is a Name Already Taken?
To find out if a domain name is taken, visit www.internic.net. Select Registration
Services, then Whois. Type in the name and press Enter.
